Are You a Halloween Artist?
HalloweenArtists.com (HA31) began as an online showcase for our Halloween Artists eBay group. We welcome all artists, both established and new to their craft. To ensure collectors of authentic, original collectibles, all artwork MUST be handmade by YOU, no store-bought or factory produced items allowed!

What are the Benefits of Joining?
Whether you're just starting out and need a place to show your art or you already have your own web site, being featured on HalloweenArtists.com can help "get the word out"! Our keyword traffic combined with our marketing program will generate more traffic and viewer interest for YOU. Established website owners know the benefits of things like reciprocal links and keyword searches in the search engines. Being involved with our site which is specifically focused on Halloween Artists is just plain good sense! And best of all, it is FREE.

New World Order or Hippie Ideals?
HalloweenArtists.com is an entirely donations based enterprise at this time. Though there are no REQUIRED fees associated with your participation on this site, a monthly free-will offering is gently suggested and always appreciated! We provide a Donations page where artists can send as much or as little as they choose and as often as they choose via Paypal.

Happy Artists are Successful Artists
This is a semi-juried website, ensuring the best in original designs and excellence in every hand-crafted piece. Viewers can browse the site by artist or by category of art/ favorite collectible (this function coming soon!). Each artist is responsible for conducting business in a professional and friendly manner. Links to each artist's website, ebay auctions (if applicable) and email are provided so you can be contacted directly. Your art and your behavior reflects on the site and the other artists featured here. Let's make it a wonderful experience for everyone!

Do I Have My Own Website URL?
You will have your own web address that you can use on your business cards, flyers or advertising. You can use any name you choose (your name, your business name or any title you like)  providing it is not being used by another artist on the site. Your unique URL will look something like this - www.halloweenartists.com/YOURSTUDIO or YOURSTUDIO.halloweenartists.com. You can choose to have your name BEFORE or AFTER halloweenartists.com.

About Your Pages
Artist pages conform to the look and feel of the site and can not be customized beyond the choices specified (see form for details):

Your Gallery Images
You may have up to 8 images of art in your Gallery at any time. You may switch out or update your images and content twice a month for free. If you need additional updates, you will be charged a nominal fee ($10 hour) to accomplish your needs.

Images must be emailed to us in a digital (jpeg or gif) format. While it is best to work with large clear images which can be formatted to fit the page specs, PLEASE do not attempt to email very large files (over 1 MB). If possible, size your images to about 600 pixels wide or contact us for help or information before sending files.

Content to Include
Your art should understandably be Halloween oriented, however, you may also include other types of art, such as Christmas themed, landscapes, country crafts, etc.. Please NO pornographic, extreme gore or other images that might be deemed offensive. We reserve the right not to display any images we feel are a detriment to our artists and viewers in general, sorry. Your pages should include an Artist Bio (about me), brief description of each art image, contact information such as your email address, your eBay user name (we will link to your auctions if you sell on ebay) and if you have an alternate web site URL, feel free to include it.

Sell Your Goodies, too!
Though we are primarily an artist showcase site, you may certainly sell your art right from your web pages using either Paypal to accept payments or by arrangements you make with buyers directly. We can set up a Paypal shopping cart on your Gallery page so buyers can easily click on your "Buy it Now" button and pay you directly through Paypal. We take NO COMMISSIONS from your sales, but we do charge a flat $25 fee for our time to code and set up your shopping cart. Fair enough?

Special Events or Activities
Participation in any HalloweenArtists.com group activities is optional but highly recommended, as it not only increases interest by the art and collector community but it's just plain fun! (Our online Haunted House is an example.) You do not need to be a HA31 member to be on HalloweenArtists.com but if you sell on ebay, you're welcome to join our group there. Our main focus is to help you market your art and promote sales. When you actively join in events, you help yourself and others. Always a GOOD thing!

Why Are We Doing This?
Because we're Halloween artists, just like you! Incredible as it might seem to some, we still believe in karma and the "what goes around" principle. We enjoy being in the company of creative folks, we enjoy working on web design, when we lift up one artist we are all lifted up and finally...just because we can!

Halloween History
The American tradition of "trick-or-treating" probably dates back to the early All Souls' Day parades in England. During the festivities, poor citizens would beg for food and families would give them pastries called "soul cakes" in return for their promise to pray for the family's dead relatives. The distribution of soul cakes was encouraged by the church as a way to replace the ancient practice of leaving food and wine for roaming spirits. The practice, which was referred to as "going a-souling" was eventually taken up by children who would visit the houses in their neighborhood and be given ale, food, and money. More...
