Ron & Sherry Byrum

Can you hear it? The laughing within the trees, the whispers in the grass, or the twinkling among the flower petals? You have just entered the Land of Enchantment; The Magickal World of Ron and Sherry Byrum.

We are Ron and Sherry Byrum and we've been married for 28 years, live with our two furry children in the beautiful Ozarks in Arkansas in a small town two blocks from the beautiful Spring River. Aside from restoring our 100 year old cottage, our bird sanctuary and our garden filled with Marigolds, orange and white Impatiens, Hostas and Chrysanthemums just to name a few, keep us quite busy. The most enchanting part of our life is our love for the magic of Halloween and our witch art.

It was our love of decorating that led us to focus mainly on Halloween. Starting in August, we string hundreds of lights and decorate the outside of our house. The flowers in our gardens are even planned to look their best during the months of September and October.

In 1998 we sold a design for a spinning ghost that hangs from trees to a major supplier of Halloween decorations. In 1999 we bought our first computer and we were one of the first sellers of art on Ebay back in the "good ole days" when there were bidding wars and starting bids of $1.00. Since then, we have sold hundreds of paintings, signs and other decorative items on Ebay.

Ron is also a mural artist and faux finisher (you can see his work on his website http://www.ronbyrum.com ) Proud members of the HA31 ebay artists group, we plan to continue to sell original paintings, signs and a collection of art prints in our Ebay store.

Q. How long have you been an artist or doing art?

A. Since we were both children, we have loved to draw and paint!

Q. What started you in your craft?

A. Love for art and decorating! When we were younger we made a living as decorative painters for interior designers.

Q. Are there certain things that inspire you to create?

A. Nature inspires us, it is the master artist canvas. Humanity inspires us in their seeking of spiritual answers, just life in general, anything joyful.

Q. Do you have any tips for other artists who are just starting out?

A. The most important thing is to believe in yourself, in your ability, be open minded and learn from and admire other's art.

Q. What is your favorite medium or tool used in your art?

A. Acrylics and paint brushes!

Q. How did you come to be interested in Halloween art?

A. Memories of Halloween from the 50's and 60's, we love vintage art and the magic of a society that has all but disappeared. We feel fortunate that we grew up in the time period we did and we always loved decorating for the holidays, Halloween, Christmas, Easter, any excuse to decorate. But Halloween is our favorite time of year.
