CATHY OBESHAW

About the Artists:

Eclectic Season Primitives is the moniker of the magickal artistic duo of Cathy Obeshaw and Carol Karr, two sisters from South East Michigan.

Cathy was born in Michigan in 1962. She is a self-taught artist, whose love of art keeps her on a constant search for new mediums and subjects. Cathy is married, has 3 lovely daughters and 2 grandsons who keep her on her toes and very busy! She and her husband share their home with their youngest daughter Maria and Rosco the wonder dog.

In addition to painting, and spending time with her grandsons, Cathy tends the magical land that surrounds her home. She has vegetable and flower gardens on the 2 acres of land which are also home to sprites, fairies and other magical creatures. Her home is over 100 years old, and she enjoyed tracing it's history back to the original land owner who purchased it from the United States. Her home also has its very own resident ghost. Over the years she and her husband have lovingly repaired, restored and made it their own.

Cathy's favorite medium is painting, which she has been perfecting since she was a small child. Having tried oils, pastels and other types of mediums, she finds that she likes to work in acrylics best. Everything in life is a canvas waiting to be painted is her philosophy and she is constantly on the lookout for items she can rescue and recycle in her art. Cathy has also created some wonderful art dolls.

Carol was born in Illinois in 1953, but her parents returned to Michigan before her first birthday. Also self-taught artist, her work combines the mystical and spiritual aspects of her life, as well as her vivid imagination with influences from the experiences of life, work and motherhood to produce art that is reflective of her feelings.

As Carol works through the pain of the loss of her son who was killed in
a tragic accident in his workplace in October of 2003 by keeping busy
either at work, or working at home on her art. Carol is married to a
loving man and supportive husband (yes they are one in the same), has
2 amazing daughters and 3 grandsons and a granddaughter. She and her
husband share their home with her son's 2 cats, Demon and Vlad and
Carol's new puppy MoJo. For the last 14 years, Carol has been the
senior manager of a metaphysical/holistic bookstore where she shares
her years of study in the magickal arts with her customers. She also
is a web designer/graphic artist. In her younger days, Carol wrote for
a independent comic book company which exposed her to a whole new art
venue. Carol's favorite art endeavors involve computers and sewing
machines. She has produced some wonderful digital art pieces combining
different mediums. She, like her sister also has a flair for art
dolls.

Both the sisters adore Halloween (Samhain) and the fantastic images
and stories surrounding this holiday. Much time is spent decorating
and celebrating both the traditional and the spiritual parts of this
holiday. Although Halloween is the favorite, they also admit that
Christmas is a strong first place tie for times of the year that make
them feel warm and fuzzy. Family is "the most important" part of both
of their lives and holidays are a wonderful way to celebrate family.

You will from time to time see from them Native American influenced
art (both sisters have strong family ties to Native Americans) as well
as dolls, paintings, ornaments and household items, such as clocks,
bowls and more! "We paint on or craft on any thing we can get our
hands on!"

The sisters have been selling on eBay since 2002 finding this a great
venue for their art, and appreciating the sense of community there
amongst the artists. Finding joy, peace and comfort while creating
their art , they hope that the love in which their art is created is
absorbed into the piece they are working on, and then passed on to the
new owners.

They often take requests or ideas from clients, and occasionally
commissioned work.

Their art has sold in Ann Arbor Michigan at Crazy Wisdom, and at an
art mall in Jackson as well world wide through the magic of eBay.
They love to hear from people, and their clients are their joy. Client
satisfaction very is important to them.

They strive to keep their art pure, and make quality pieces. Most
pieces are OOAK (one of a kind) and will not be reproduced.

You can also find them on myspace under catandwinter.
Cathy and Carol also belong to some really wonder artist groups on
eBay as well. They are proud members of Artistic Halloween Queens
Unite (AHQU), HA31, AHAO and Dolls4art.
When searching for art you will find the best pieces searching eBay
with the acronyms of these groups included in your search.
