Though I have done everything from calligraphy to
woodcarving, I consider myself a painter at heart.
Using acrylic paints and brushes, I like being able
to create a whole little world within a painting. I
choose the colors and characters but knowing that
someone else can see what I see and is affected
somehow by my visions is what keeps me painting!

I do a variety of other things but my
strongest forte is sculpture. I love being able to pull a
three dimensional character out of my mind's eye and making
it come to life. Of course, what I initially imagine and
what comes to life when my hands decide to interfere are
sometimes quite different but I'm usually pleased with the
end result. I always work with airdry clay and sometimes
paper maché pulp. I am also very fond of sculpting on all
types of gourds, they make the best armatures. Their
varied shapes and sizes lend themselves to the
greatest faces and bodies. |

Strictly painting. I can't sculpt my way out of a
paper bag. I am a two dimensional type. |

I would have to say drawing. I need to draw, will
draw on anything, with anything. I love color, and
that is a big part of my painting experience: color
and the drawing/composition. I have always been very
aware of how much impact color can have on a
composition. (and on the viewer of the art.) |

Painting with acrylics is
definitely
my favorite medium to work with. I love to paint on found
objects and turn them into something entirely different from
what they were originally used for. I especially like to
find wood pieces that are throw-aways and turn them into
something useful again. Some of my most creative
artwork has come from retail displays on their way
to the dumpster. My co-workers think I'm crazy until
they see what I do with the "junk" I take home. It
must be the militant recycler in me that inspires me
to think of a way to make something useful again. |

I love painting
with acrylics, not so much oils anymore, takes to
long to dry! (I also like) drawing with ink,
sculpting, wood work and a little sewing, depends on
my mood for the sewing part. |

I paint with acrylics now but started out with oil
paints. I prefer acrylics because of their fast
drying time. I also enjoy wood carving, polymer clay
sculpting but painting is my first love. I really
enjoy bringing unique pieces found in nature to life
with my art, such as my tree fungus art.

I have also
used many mediums, but I think painting with
acrylics is still my favorite. I also love to sculpt
with polymer clay, and make fabric art dolls. |

I love sculpting in air dry clay, not
in the classical sense, but to create art dolls. When it
comes to expressing yourself thru your art, nothing beats
the clay, well in my view anyway, with drawing/sketching as
a very close second, and I have to say my creations usually
come out the way I imagine them. I have noticed that the
more I work with a certain medium, each succeeding
piece is more improved than the last, and it becomes
easier to translate from idea to paper to form. |

Well
since I can't draw worth beans it would have to be
sculpting clay... although I love wood work almost
as much! Oh and fabric..and paint too! oh beads I
love beads and charms! |

My
favorite medium is Acrylic paint because it cleans
up with water. I seem to end up covered in whatever
I am creating! Pencil drawing is a close second, but
it can't match the intensity of the paint colors
that I love so much! |

I too
love acrylics they are very easy to use, dry quickly
and clean up fast. Almost every day, I am wearing
part of what I am working on. I don't think I have a
pair of jeans left without paint on them. I love
stitchery too. Anything that I can sew (clothes
excluded) from pictures to ornies & decorations. I
love to work with different cloths and textures.
Your options are limitless with fabric. |

Oh my
gosh! I think I have tried just about everything!
Years ago, I predominately used oil paints and
pastels; then I went through a phase where I
stretched heavy plastic across an old door frames
and worked in acrylics. I then moved to natural
fibers and fabrics. Finally, I found that I have
settled comfortably in sculpture. I have been
sculpting for over 9 years now and while I have used
several types of clay and paper mediums, I think
Paperclay is still my all time favorite. |
